The Tsetis Group Donates 106 Defibrillators to NKUA in Memory of Professor Ioanna Andreadou
The Tsetis Pharmaceutical Group, on the initiative of its President, Julia Tsetis, has made a donation of significant social and symbolic value to the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), dedicated to the memory of the late Professor Ioanna Andreadou of the Department of Pharmacy, School of Health Sciences, NKUA.
The donation includes 106 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and an equal number of first-aid kits, which are already being installed across NKUA facilities in Attica and Evia, substantially enhancing the safety of students, academic staff, and visitors.
The donation was announced by NKUA Rector Gerasimos Siasos and Julia Tsetis, President of the Tsetis Pharmaceutical Group, during a memorial event held in honor of Professor Ioanna Andreadou. The event was jointly organized by the Rectorate of NKUA and the Tsetis Pharmaceutical Group and took place at the Great Hall of the University of Athens on June 3, 2026.
The event was attended by members of the academic community, professors, and collaborators who had worked closely with Professor Andreadou throughout her distinguished scientific and research career.
Opening the event, NKUA Rector Professor Gerasimos Siasos highlighted Ioanna Andreadou’s significant contribution to the advancement of pharmaceutical science, as well as her dedication to the University of Athens and its students.
The Rector thanked Julia Tsetis for this significant contribution to the NKUA, while also emphasizing that “sudden death constitutes a major challenge for healthcare systems, with the first few minutes being particularly critical for the patient’s outcome”.
In her address, Julia Tsetis spoke with deep emotion about Ioanna Andreadou, emphasizing her outstanding scientific career and lasting contribution to research and academia. As she noted, Professor Andreadou established herself among Europe’s leading researchers in basic cardiovascular research.
At the same time, she was a steadfast supporter of the work of the KLEON TSETIS Non-Profit Organization, contributing her scientific expertise to initiatives supporting universities, researchers, and research centers during a period when meaningful collaborations and genuine solidarity were particularly valuable.
Julia Tsetis also reflected on their shared belief in the power of women to excel and lead in science and research. She described Ioanna Andreadou as a woman of strength, integrity, and a profound sense of responsibility, expressing her gratitude for having known and collaborated with her both as a scientist and as a person.
As she stated:
“The donation of 106 defibrillators to the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is not merely a donation of equipment. It is a meaningful act of remembrance and a way for Ioanna to continue contributing to human life, even through her absence.
She deeply believed that knowledge acquires its true value only when it is returned to society - when it is translated into care, prevention, and life.
Today, we honor not only her memory, but also the way she lived, worked, and gave of herself. And as long as there are people who continue her work, Ioanna will remain present among us”.
Through this initiative, the Tsetis Group aims to create a lasting legacy of contribution to the academic community, linking the memory of Ioanna Andreadou with prevention, safety, and the protection of human life. In this way, her scientific and human legacy continues to inspire and serve society, transforming remembrance into a meaningful act of giving.
